BMW is recalling nearly 700,000 vehicles in China due to fire safety risks linked to coolant pump defects. The recall affects 499,539 locally produced cars and 188,371 imported models, with the potential for faulty coolant pump plugs to cause corrosion and short circuits, leading to fires.

This significant recall highlights ongoing quality control challenges for the German automaker as it addresses safety concerns in its vehicle lineup. The recall will begin on March 1, 2025, as announced by China's State Administration for Market Regulation.
