Vietnam's seafood exports reached $5.3 billion in the first seven months of 2024, up 6% year-on-year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). Key export products like shrimp, pangasius, tuna, and crab all recorded positive growth, with shrimp exports hitting $1.9 billion, pangasius at $1 billion, tuna at $400 million, and crab at $150 million.

The U.S. remained the largest importer, followed by China, Japan, and South Korea. Despite challenges like high production costs, trade disputes, and low export prices, Vietnam's seafood industry is on track to meet its $10 billion export target for 2024 by diversifying markets and focusing on value-added products.
