The Government of Meghalaya has facilitated the export of 3.5 million tonnes of organically grown pineapples to the United Arab Emirates, marking the state's first international pineapple shipment.[1][3] This achievement is part of the state's ongoing efforts to establish market linkages for its pineapple farmers, both domestically and globally.[2][4] The pineapples from Meghalaya are highly sought after for their exceptional sweetness and low sourness, with a brix value of 16-18.

[4][5] In addition to the UAE exports, the state government has also helped farmers secure sustained market connections with domestic processors and retailers, including a deal to supply pineapples to Reliance Retail stores across Guwahati.[4] These initiatives have not only increased price realizations for Meghalaya's pineapple growers but also showcased the superior quality of the state's "fineapples" in national and international markets.[4]
