Global avocado consumption and import demand are expected to continue expanding in the coming years, according to a new report by Rabobank. The US remains the world's largest importer of avocados, with imports reaching a record high of 1.26 million metric tons in 2023.
Demand is also growing strongly in other regions like Europe and Asia, creating new opportunities for avocado exporters worldwide, including in New Zealand.[1][2][3] Rabobank forecasts that global avocado exports could surpass 3 million metric tons by 2025 as production continues to increase, particularly in Latin American countries like Mexico, Peru, and Colombia.[3][4][5]
