The Consul General of Oman, Eng. Sami Abdullah Al Khanjari, has expressed Oman’s desire to import onions and other agricultural products from Pakistan. Currently, Oman imports 60% of its rice from Pakistan, citing the best quality compared to other sources. However, the Omani CG noted that trade between the two countries remains limited, despite the potential for enhancement

The CG advised the Karachi business community to explore opportunities for exporting more fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural products to Oman, as the country is currently importing these items from far-flung countries such as China, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Ethiopia, and Somalia. He also highlighted the investment opportunities in Oman’s five major ports, where investors from China, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and India have already made substantial investments.

The CG emphasized that Pakistan’s textile and leather products, including towels and garments, also hold good potential in the Omani market, but these products are not being exported to Oman, which requires special attention. He also noted that thousands of Pakistanis are working and doing business in Oman, while around 300,000 Pakistanis are employed in the country.
