China has expressed its readiness to import high-quality agricultural products from Kazakhstan, signaling a strengthening of agricultural trade relations between the two countries[1]. In 2023, bilateral trade in agricultural products increased by 60% to over $1.3 billion, with Kazakhstan's exports to China nearly doubling to $1.01 billion[4].

China's Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Zhang Xiao, stated that China is interested in continuing imports of meat, grain, and other agricultural products from Kazakhstan[4]. The two countries are also exploring the possibility of establishing a modern meat processing plant in North Kazakhstan[4]. Additionally, China lifted restrictions on the import of poultry products from Kazakhstan in February 2024, as well as previous foot-and-mouth disease restrictions on beef and pork imports[4]. These developments indicate a growing appetite for Kazakh agricultural products in the Chinese market and a commitment to expanding trade in this sector.
