Malaysia is ramping up its efforts to export premium durian varieties to China, following the successful arrival of its first shipment of fresh durians in August 2024. The country aims to capitalize on the growing demand for luxury durians, particularly the Musang King and Black Thorn varieties, which are highly sought after by Chinese consumers.

With plans to ship a total of 40 tonnes in phases, Malaysia is positioning itself as a key player in the high-end durian market, focusing on quality and compliance with China's phytosanitary standards to ensure sustained access to this lucrative market.
