Lithuania has imposed a ban on the import of agricultural products and animal feed from Russia and Belarus, effective as of June 3, 2024. [1][2][3] The ban covers a wide range of products, including live animals, meat and offal, fish, milk and dairy products, eggs, honey, plants, vegetables, fruits, coffee and spices, grains, cereals, oils, beverages, tobacco, and more.

[1][2] The Lithuanian government stated that the EU should impose similar restrictions on all agricultural products imported from Russia, including grain. [1] This move comes after the EU Council resolved to impose prohibitive charges on grain products imported from Russia and Belarus, effectively banning their import. [1] Ukraine has long urged the EU to completely ban Russian agricultural imports, which it has deemed “dishonest” while Ukrainian grain is being dumped. [1]
