According to the news, Malaysia is set to begin exporting fresh durians to China starting in the third quarter of 2024. This follows the signing of a protocol between Malaysia and China covering the phytosanitary (plant health) requirements for exporting fresh durians to the Chinese market.

Previously, Malaysia had only exported frozen durians to China, but the new agreement will allow for shipments of fresh "king of fruits" to meet the growing demand in China. In addition, the Dewan Rakyat (Malaysian parliament) also discussed the country's progress in achieving zero hardcore poverty, which was highlighted as another key development.
