Tanzania has agreed to export 650,000 tons of maize worth $250 million to drought-stricken Zambia over the next 8 months. This deal was signed between the two countries to help alleviate severe food shortages in Zambia caused by a prolonged drought.
Tanzania, a major producer of grains and cereals in East Africa, will supply the maize from its national food reserve agency warehouses. This export agreement is expected to feed around 7 million people in Zambia and generate significant revenue for Tanzania's agricultural sector. [1][3][4]
