Ethiopia has become a major exporter of animal vaccines, supplying 33 countries across Africa and the Middle East. The state-owned National Veterinary Institute (NVI) has been producing and exporting a wide range of animal vaccines, including for livestock like cattle, camels, and chickens.

In the past 11 months alone, the NVI exported 41.5 million doses of animal vaccines while also supplying 292 million doses domestically. This has allowed Ethiopia to become self-sufficient in animal vaccines and even earn foreign currency through exports to countries with large livestock populations, such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Chad, and South Sudan.[1][2][4][5]
