Finland's state-owned energy firm Gasum will cease importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia starting July 26, in compliance with the latest EU sanctions.
[1][2][3][4][5] Gasum stated that the EU sanctions do not allow it to terminate its existing contract with Gazprom Export, but constitute a "force majeure" that prevents the company from purchasing or importing Russian LNG to its off-grid terminals. [4][5] This move is part of the EU's efforts to restrict Russia's energy exports and revenues in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
