A Russian industry group is urging Chinese automakers to localize production in Russia as import costs continue to rise. Vitaly Mankevich, chairman of the Russia-Asia Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, emphasized that increasing customs duties and fees make importing vehicles less viable.

He predicts that in a few years, imported cars will become rare in Russia, suggesting that Chinese manufacturers should consider establishing production facilities within the country to benefit from lower labor and resource costs. This shift is seen as crucial for adapting to the changing automotive landscape in Russia following Western sanctions and the exit of many foreign carmakers.
